Dry Scalp Treatments
Here is a list of high quality products I have found to be excellent at treating dry scalp. Each shampoo product has the best ingredients without any of the cheap, harmful “filler” ingredients. Look through this list to find the right shampoo for your dry scalp treatment.
Regenepure DR – Hair & Scalp Treatment
Regenepure DR is a fantastic shampoo specifically catered to dry scalp treatments. It contains no harmful ingredients such as the notorious sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate, DEA, and synthetic fragrances. It is also paraben-free. With a plethora of good oils and vitamins, Regenepure DR is an excellent choice for treating your dry scalp. Don’t believe me? Take a look at this review straight from Amazon:
“…My husband (who is 50) also uses regenepure. For years, he has suffered from a dry, flaky scalp (and lately he’s been showing slight signs of graying/thinning). We tried several products (drug store brands to professional salon products) to help with the itchy, dry scalp. Most would work for a few weeks but then his hair often looked dull and flat. And most the sulfate-free shampoos made his dandruff flair up. That’s why we were surprised how good regenepure is. His hair is soft and the dandruff cleared up completely after about 10 days of use. It looks healthy and shiny too. And, he swears his hair feels thicker (but I guess that’s subjective). Regenepure is all he’ll use now and he carries a travel size with him when he’s on the road.-M. Hair One Dry Scalp Formula with Tea Tree Oil
Hair One dry scalp formulais another product I highly recommend you use for your dry scalp treatment. It is an all-natural product with zero harmful chemicals and detergents. As its name implies, it’s main ingredient is tea tree oil – one of the best oils you can use to treat dry scalp. Here’s a review of Hair One from Amazon if you’re not totally convinced:
“I have tried about everything on the market for my DRY, ITCHY scalp. I can’t think of a time in my 36 years when my head didn’t itch or have flaking. It was like an unwanted shadow, unable to shake loose of this burden, until now. I bought this at a beauty supply store along with a scalp massager and natural bristle hair brush (both are recommended for healthy scalp). Tried it last night in the shower and holy cow! It’s has a pleasant odor, you can feel it working on the scalp (not meaning to sound like a commercial, but it’s true), and the overall feeling of my hair and scalp was incredible afterwards. No matter what my prior attempts at trying to rid my scalp of this nuisance, it would always have the annoying scaliness…after last night’s usage of this product, I was amazed when looking in the mirror when I saw what appeared to be a normal, healthy scalp. I had my wife look too, as I was skeptical after so many attempts and years of dealing with this affliction, and she saw the same as I did, a normal, healthy scalp. Only one use, too. Like the others have said, it’s a little on the costly side, but if you have dealt with dry scalp like I have, it’s worth every penny, plus some. I don’t care if I have to buy a bottle a month, it works great and I don’t plan to use anything else. It truly is magic in a bottle. Do yourself a favor and go buy this product. I am amazed.” - FamGuy1, 7/14/2010.
Products to Avoid
You’ll want to steer clear of anything containing sodium/ammonium lauryl or laureth sulfate, MEA, TEA, DEA, phthalates, and fragrances. This includes, but is not limited to, most common grocery store shampoos such as anything by Suave, American Crew, Pantene, Biolage, Head and Shoulders (yes even the H&S “dry scalp” shampoo contains sulfates), Selsun Blue, etc. Almost all of the “mainstream” shampoos contain harmful chemicals that will damage and irritate your scalp (even the “natural” and “moisturizing” versions). The most important thing you can do is read the labels and list of ingredients.
If you’re still unsure about the idea of buying special shampoo, or you prefer a more natural solution like I did, you’ll want to check out the dry scalp home remedies page!
